
FUNGLODE, established in 2000 by Dr. Leonel Fernández, works for the social, economic and democratic development of the Dominican Republic and the Region, particularly by promoting international collaboration and exchange in order to advance the level of public involvement in debate, encourage informed public opinion, train more qualified human resources and achieve more just public policies. In partnership with its U.S. sister-organization, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), FUNGLODE collaborates with organizations in the United States and the Dominican Republic on research, enhancing public understanding, designing public policies, devising strategies, offering capacity building and fostering exchange in areas crucial for the social, economic and democratic development of the Dominican Republic, Caribbean and Latin America.
United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic The peoples’ movement in support of the United Nations, the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic is one of more than one hundred member associates around the world. The mission of the World Federation of United Nations Associations is to inform, sustain and energize a global network of United Nations Associations to support the principles and programs of the United Nations and to help shape its agenda. Objectives of the World Federation of United Nations include the promotion of tolerance and solidarity, the development of cooperative peace efforts through works of justice, the advancement of human rights and fundamental freedoms throughout the global community, the promotion of economic development and the enhancement of social progress and better standards of life.
